BEYOND THE PACT ACT
On 8 April, leaders of the Torchlight Initiative had the opportunity to brief the House VA Committee, and members of the Senate VA Committee on the disproportionate rate of cancers and illnesses impacting the ICBM Community. Their comments are at the 1hr 6min mark. House VA Committee Roundtable on Toxic Exposures at Military Installations.
Members of this Torchlight team will die from our exposures as a casualties of this war, and we will join the Airmen and Guardians who gave their lives before us. But not today. And not without speaking and fighting for our fellow service members and families who have sacrificed so much.
Good leaders don’t complete objectives by just hoping the problems will solve themselves. They make a plan, take proactive actions to mitigate risks, and execute the plan. We will make a difference in this war and fight for each other by: 1) Building Awareness of our exposures 2) Documenting our exposures 3) Understanding and mitigating the environmental hazards that are killing us and making us sick.
